Tour of the Ihme-Zentrum
with Hans Mönninghoff, Gabriele Sand, and Eva Birkenstock
Members only
The Ihme-Zentrum is a large residential, office, and former shopping complex in the Linden-Mitte district of Hanover. Designed as a “city within a city,” it was inaugurated on October 31, 1974. The entire complex was built in a single phase, making it one of the largest construction sites with “Europe’s largest poured concrete foundation.” Once celebrated as an architectural marvel, the Ihme-Zentrum in Hanover has since been left to decay and is now considered a social hotspot. Following the tour with Hans Mönninghoff, former Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and the Environment for the City of Hanover, a concluding discussion will take place in the offices of the association ihmeKult e. V.
Meeting point: Entrance area of the Capitol Event Center at the Schwarzer Bär tram stop
