Book Launch: Anna K.E. — If You Smell Like A Garlic I Will Love You Even More

Kestner Gesellschaft is pleased to present the new artist’s book by Anna K.E., If You Smell Like A Garlic I Will Love You Even More, published by DISTANZ Verlag on the occasion of the exhibitions Dolorem Ipsum (2024) at Kestner Gesellschaft, Hannover, and For Our Parents (2024/25) at Haus Esters, Kunstmuseen Krefeld.

Anna K.E. will share a video message, followed by curator Alexander Wilmschen (Kestner Gesellschaft), who will reflect on both exhibitions and introduce the newly published artist's publication. Dedicated to Anna K.E.’s multifaceted practice, which resists categorization within a single medium, the book brings together texts by Estelle Hoy, Sylvia Martin, Alexander Wilmschen, and the artist herself.

The practice of Anna K.E. (b. 1986, Tbilisi, Georgia; lives in New York and Düsseldorf) centers on the human body. Working across drawing, painting, film, photography, performance, sculpture, and immersive three-dimensional environments, she situates the human figure within a world shaped equally by profound uncertainty and freedom. In 2019, Anna K.E. represented Georgia at the 58th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Following the book launch, the publication will be available for purchase on site. Wine and pastries will be served.
