Identity in Motion

with Entry

3 AM is an experimental quartet that blends jazz, avant-garde, and electroacoustic sound exploration with influences from Latin American musical traditions. At the heart of their work are composition and improvisation as open-ended processes in which sound, identity, and cultural encounters are renegotiated.

With its new project, Identity in Motion, the ensemble is developing a concert format in which music and contemporary dance engage in a dialogue on equal terms. Together with dancers Adam Chakir (Morocco), Andrés Cobaleda (Colombia), and Karina Tkachenko (Ukraine), they are creating a performance that brings the experiences of migration, multiple identities, and social orientation to life in a sensory way.

The music ranges from structured compositions to free improvisation. Electronic soundscapes, acoustic instruments, and movement merge into a unified expression in which body and sound are equally vehicles of memory, resonance, and communication. The starting point is the question “Where are we?”—a search for orientation that is explored not through clear-cut answers, but through encounter, movement, and shared experience.

With Identity in Motion, 3 AM aims to expand traditional concert formats and create new spaces for transcultural exchange. The performances take place not only in concert halls but also in museums, alternative venues, and sociocultural centers, inviting the audience not only to listen to music but also to experience it as a shared space of experience.
