Love, melancholy, longing and pathos - the soul of Portugal is reflected in the lyrics and music of fado. Singer Leonor Amaral and guitarist Henrique Almeida take you on a musical journey through moments of Paula Rego's life.

Leonor Amaral, a native of Portugal, is a versatile concert and opera singer. Already during her studies, she was able to acquire a broad opera repertoire, ranging from Handel to Bizet. After her studies, she was an ensemble member of the Nordhausen Theatre. Since the 2018/19 season, Leonor Amaral has been working as a coloratura soprano in the ensemble of the Erfurt Theatre.

Leonor Amaral was a semi-finalist in the Bertelsmann Foundation's New Voices Competition in 2015, and a finalist in the Cesti Competition for Baroque Opera in 2017. As a musical singer, she sang various concerts with the German Armed Forces Music Corps. She made her debut with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and collaborated with the WDR Funkhausorchester in 2019. In December 2019, she went on a concert tour of the Netherlands with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. As part of the WDR programme "Wunderschön - Portugal", Leonor Amaral performed a live broadcast concert of Fados and other Portuguese repertoire together with the WDR Funkhausorchester.
