Tracey Emin, Strangeland
Reading 'Motherland' with Viktoria Miknevich

In her autobiography Strangeland, the British artist Tracey Emin tells of her childhood, her single mother's struggle against poverty, of anorexia and sexual abuse. As the daughter of a British mother and a Turkish-Cypriot father, she grew up with her twin brother in Margate, a bleak, run-down coastal town. She drops out of school early, has numerous affairs and becomes one of the most influential British artists of our time.
'Motherland', 'Fatherland' and 'Traceyland' are the three stages of her self-research, the original version of which was published in 2005 and a revised and expanded version in German in 2009. Radical and open and sometimes self-deprecating, she leads us into the 'strange land' of her existence, a radical, tender and courageous literature.
The readings 'Fatherland' and 'Traceyland' are planned for January and February 2024.
