Opening

The Kestner Gesellschaft is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition program in spring 2025.

We will present the solo exhibitions Cue the Cue by Jack O'Brien, The Rivers They Don't See by Som Supaparinya and the façade and performance project Don't Let Them Shoot the Kite by Göksu Kunak .

At the same time, the new accessible space titled Passage opens in Hall 5, designed by architect Assaf Kimmel. For the first time, it publicly presents selected archival materials and ephemera from the history of the Kestner Gesellschaft, bringing together art education, the kestnerkids program, and public events with a flexible display area for editions and archival content.

The evening will begin with a digital welcome address by Minister Falko Mohrs (Minister of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony), followed by a speech by Eva Bender (Head of the Department for Culture and Education of the City of Hanover), a short greeting by Heidelinde Gerhold (Chairwoman of the Board, Kestner Gesellschaft), and a curatorial introduction by Alexander Wilmschen (Interim-Director & Curator). A public exhibition tour will follow.

The evening will be accompanied by electronic sounds from DJ Lacaty and drinks served by Café Tender Buttons and Lieblingsbar.

A special highlight of the evening will be Göksu Kunak's performance Don't Let Them Shoot the Kite at Goseriedeplatz at 8 pm.
