Don't Let Them Shoot the Kite (Feride Çiçekoğlu, 1986)
Turkish & German
As part of the exhibition Don’t Let Them Shoot the Kite by Göksu Kunak, a reading from the novella of the same name by Feride Çiçekoğlu (1986) will take place in collaboration with the association Can Arkadaş. Kunak’s performance on April 25, 2025, at Goseriedeplatz in Hanover, as well as the installation works exhibited at Café Tender Buttons, explore themes such as displacement, visibility, and questions of social belonging in the context of migration. In Kunak’s work, the title Don’t Let Them Shoot the Kite serves as a metaphor for the challenges of migration, the desire to transcend imposed boundaries, and the resilience required to do so.
The reading will alternate between Turkish and German and will be accompanied by live music featuring traditional saz instruments.
